The Envelope Please

.

Or in our case the Rose. The 3 chosen by their peers. Yes, it made the paper. Again! This was big news in the day. Sadly (laughing now at what was so important--then-drama) I would not be the 1978/79 Ms. AmericaHomecoming Queen. But one of her two lowly loyal subjects who would serve the Queen in the event of her demise.(evil laugh) Good golly she could have fallen and broken a leg or worse a nail. We were there to eagerly step in. This was as you can imagine a coveted position. One held in the highest regard and sought after by even the toughest of girls. True. Did I have anyone fooled? I was flattered (especially being the new kid on the block) and it was a special time. Great memories, however but not something that I have ever included on my resume'! *snort*. I've got my eye on the big one now. "Blogger Queen"!

Song playing is Hot Stuff by Donna Summer a top 10 favorite in 1979.

I was my 9th grade homecoming princess and it still makes me feel good.... I hang on to it.... I could have been a contender... hehee
It should have been you baby! It should have been you.

Not too shabby for the new kid on the block...but as far as Blogger Queen goes -- you know you're gonna have to fight off Steffie for that coveted role!

Wow, congrats! We knew... we all knew...

I never had a shot at it. 5'2" tall, with glasses. I was the quiet, smart kid. The boys never noticed. (sigh). Once I get my scanner hooked up (too many other projects I must finish first), I will show you all. LOL

I did get cute after high school...

How big a high school was this? There were 97 in my graduating class.

Blogger Queen wanna- be has to organize Blogger Bash in Vegas. Yes?

You did good, new kid.

Forgot to ask, which one won? My guess is the middle gal?

insanemommy said...

It was the middle gal and it was a small school. Only 197 in our graduating class. I moved here from a big city school which had a graduating class of 600!

I'm up for the campaign, are you Steffie b?! hee hee...

I would have voted you the royal highness.

I have the exact same story... I moved to a new school middle of 11th grade and as the new kid... I too was nominated but was voted to be a subject rather than the queen.
Prom was a different story altogether.
I'll never forget my huge peach dress with beige lace, lace gloves, and a huge lace bow on the back of my head
ewwwwwww
must locate pics :)

It is truly an honor to know you.

Oh yeah, but what is "Diane" doing today? Did SHE go on to become anyone?! I THINK NOT!

btw, Can I be one of your lowly loyal subjects when you're crowned Blogger Queen? I promise to serve you all the days....(evil laugh)

People still think this is important at least in small town football schools. Just another generation. Love the fly back bangs.

Thanks for visiting A's blog. Couple things:
1. Yes, she is very hard to say no to (but what kid isn't.. I may ask you the same question). You should hear what hubby and my therapist have to say about that. I'm not a push-over, but it's soooooooo hard to say NO at times.
2. Love your little ladies... they are way too adorable.
3. I've always visited your blog while at work (shhh!) and now I am at home visiting it and have volume on...HOT STUFF! LOL! Cracks me up! It'll be in my head all night, I think.

Okay - last night I did not have the sound on my computer or somehow I missed the song! It makes this post even better!

Dying to turn up the sound and dance but will not risk waking up princess #2!

New hot look to go with the hot women.Brings back memories of years back.
Guess since it was top ten in my days I remember disco dancin to it thinking I was also hot stuff.
It is always fun looking back at the hair and clothes from high school days.OMG the leisure suit I wore for Sr. pictures. Not to mention my permed hair.
I may need to see if I can get them posted some day.

insanemommy said...

Did Mr. Brian say he had "permed" hair?! I'm snickering over here....

Thank you all for the kind words on my "new" look. I've had a bit of work done and as you can clearly see it was much, much (gasp) needed. A little nip here and a little tuck there. I do believe the good "Dr" did a fine job. So, who can tell me whose talent this is???

Love the new layout.
The song goes perfect with this post.

insanemommy said...

Barkfoot, I got out of that one horse town as fast as my then little butt would run.... I believe the person you speak of is still there and easy to find....... I move around... Always have.
