No words needed.....

There were no words needed between s.t. (sweet thing) and I those first couple days in China. It was as if we were one. He would fetch lunch, and most often dinner too while I stayed back at the room with the babies. We didn't take many meals outside the confines of our protective compound. it was too much work! We traveled to China as two. And we returned home a family of four. I remember us watching Florida play in the play-offs in our room while feeding the babies and feeling happier than I've ever been in my life. Oh sure I was exhausted, but believe it or not I would get up every morning at 5:00am so that I could shower and have a cup of hot tea before the girls woke up. We had decided long before travel plans that we would make the trip solo. Sure we got a lot of slack for it, but frankly we didn't care. We knew we could do this. This was going to be our experience, and ours only. Not that we didn't want to share the girls, but we knew once we returned home it would be nearly impossible keeping the masses at bay. They were all anxiously waiting our arrival to see our perfectly beautiful, healthy babies. We couldn't hold the "mil" though. She would be standing on our door step nearly three weeks later! And s.t. would travel out of town two weeks after her departure on a business trip to Las Vegas. Hmm, business trip? *snort* Right. I mean it was like a circus at our house back in the early days home. Door bell ringing, babies crying, packages being delivered, babies crying, phone ringing, babies crying... did I mention babies crying? All. The. Time. Maybe he needed a little rest. Poor baby. We were (when I think back) walking zombies the first year. We both went back to work within a week of returning from China. I know, crazy! But we also had the girls on our schedule too. Not for the weak at heart. Anyway, my sister (one of 3) would fly in to help with the babies while s.t was gone. She was so helpful with the babies too. Of course she is a natural. She could make Mr. Grinch smile. She just has a way about her.

Her are some pictures up until the girls were about 1.5 years old. S.T. absolutely hated any of the pictures with the bows. He thought they were the most ridiculous thing he'd ever seen! What he didn't know and the reason I made the girls wear them (they too hated them) was I had given my right kidney for those damn ugly things! I needed to have my head examined I don't know why I bought into it, I am so not a "bow" person. Oh, I'm girly and all, but "uptown" girly. Well, use to. sorta. Enjoy.
Pictures of girls sleeping is righ after I gave the babies too much cough syrup! I thought I had killed them...they were out cold within seconds.

What a sweet post : ) I love the bows but Annslee would NEVER have worn them.

Wasn't it a great time in China when we were all in our own world...I miss that : )

The bows are cute but my Hubs would say the same thing (He calls them alien life forms). LOL.

What a wonderful experience for the two of you and I'm sure it made your marriage bond very close. Thanks for sharing.

So glad you didn't kill 'em with the cough syrup. Woops!

O.M.G. I want to reach through the computer, grab the thighs and just squeeze (gently, of course). They are SO delish!!! Oh, and your use of such large bows is excused. You were making up for non-bow-usage during the first year of their life, so you had to go extra big. ;)

They were such chunky babies! It took us quite awhile to get some chunk on Miss Sophia. Love the Texas sized bows (you should put them on the girls again just to torture the hubby!)

The cough syrup trick - wish I'd thought of that one! Does it still knock them out like that?

I am loving these posts and the bows! Yup, I bought into it, still do. Linzi starts everyday off with a bow. :D

Love the sweet pictures and had to laugh at the last one. They do look pretty zonked out and those chunky little thighs are just too cute!

I love the bows. The girls look darling in the bow pictures.

And I don't think it gets much more uptown than this Chicago girl. :) But then I also have the girls who today walked by one of those kiddie salons and announced, "I need a new bow" when they saw the hair accessories on the counter. They are the same girls who can tell you the difference between a back hoe and a grader, and put their Madeline dolls in cars and Polly Pocket in their fire engine.

Totally girly. Totally tomboys.

They are so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE the bows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeremy hates them too.... couldn't understand why I would fight with Hannah to wear her bows when she was a baby.... she would take them off.... Mama would put them on.... for the first few months probably 40-50 times a day.... I told him and I told Hannah.... "Mama waited 41 years to put bows in my daughter's hair... she is going to wear the bow!" lol and the hats too.... hehee

I forgot to add that they were little chunk-lets weren't they, in China? That's a good thing though. :)

Just read this post and the GOTCHA post below. GOTCHA was such an amazing day for us I just cant imagine them handing us two!!! You must have been so overwhelmed with ever emotion known to man! I am amazed at how well you guys did and that you did it by yourself. I love the statement you made about it being "YOUR TIME" and that you did it by yourself with just you and ST. That is impressive but I totally get that once you are home there will be no more time alone. With twins I think that is just a given. It was hard enough with just one-- but two-- wow!! I loved looking back at those first momments-- precuoius!!

I laugh at the bow thing. I was and am obsessed with bows for Mia. I dont do the huge ones but I do the simple (maybe could be considered "uptown" type bows)ones. Mia just looks so much more "girly" with a bow in her hair. Again, not the huge ones that literally look like a topper for their head but the nice ones to keep the bangs back. My hubby thinks im crazy for insisting she has a bow in her hair at all times but what the heck-- she looks so darn cute with a bow what am I to do. Anyway loved all the pics and loved watching your early moments.

I love the bows and fought for the bows and made her wear the bows. Today she does not want to leave the house without some sort of bow, hairband or piggy tails. Indoctrination is vital...LOL. Seriously, those pictures are lovely, you can see how loved those little girls are.

Let me ask you, please don't be offended. Is that lady related to Judge Judy? She is the spitting image.

Yeah, right, accidental overdose...likely story!!lol

Love all the pics. I am a big "bow head" at heart, so bring on the bows!!! I can't even imagine going to China and becoming a first time mom to twins!! What an experience. Thanks for sharing your story. I love to read it.

So sweet! I love seeing your memories. China was also "our time", but so has being home since we have no family close by at all. I wish we did have a little bit of the craziness.

We have more in common--younger DH's, and the couple that introduced us now lives minutes away from where you are. She mentioned the city when you visited our blog.

You know Rony we have been catching alot of heat for the last 2 1/2 years because we are not taking Astrud with us to China. But that was totally Frank's call, because he says that , that will be the only two weeks of Franceskas life that we, her mommy and daddy have her all to ourselves. So I totally understand where you were coming from.

Thank you for sharing so much, I love reading your stories.
Love, Kristy
